King of Judah. Does that ring a bell – such as the phrase “Lion of the tribe of Judah?”
Abraham had a son named Isaac, and Isaac had a son named Jacob. Jacob had twelve sons, who after the exile in Egypt, and lead into the Promised land by Moses, were each given a portion of the land. Jacob was renamed Israel, and his twelve sons made up two kingdoms, The Northern and Southern Kingdom. The kingdom of Judah and that of Israel.
The prophets are full of reference that the Messiah, Jesus Christ would come from the tribe of Judah. Even thought Levi was chosen to be the priestly tribe, to attend to the service of the temple, It was through Judah that the Christ would come. Both Matthew and Luke trace Jesus back to Judah through King David.
Now the point, the unjust actions of Jehoiakim and Josiah were in contempt of the entire plan of the prophesied Messiah, and the Spirit and Character that he would minister, and one day return to rule.
Do you run your governmental job that way? Do you run your local business with that equity in mind? Are you a leader with the humility of King David and the mindfulness to the poor?
